The Brief

Bella Vie Interiors was engaged to reinvent an outdated family bathroom.  Our client, Megan, desperately wanted her bathroom to be a spa-like retreat she could relax in after a long day at work.

The brief was to create a functional, light filled bathroom that complemented the style of home. The clients’ wanted a modern design with colours that convey a sense of calm, a large freestanding bath, that wasn’t acrylic and it needed to be achieved within a modest budget.

Key Challenges

The key challenges were the existing bathroom was small, dark and definitely not large enough to tick all the boxes our clients wanted in their bathroom. Secondly, it was located on the third level of a home with a very steep entry driveway making access a little more challenging than usual. Finally, the budget was modest for the scope of work and inclusions desired.

These challenges were addressed by first removing some internal walls to create a larger, more luxurious bathroom.

Secondly by specifying a lighter, easier to carry, resin-stone bath by Fienza, access to the top floor carrying a large bath was made possible. This was definitely the splurge item but our clients’ agree, it was completely worth it.

Finally, the budget was balanced by using off the shelf fixtures rather than a custom designed vanity and mirrored shaving cabinet.

Space Planning

The size of the bathroom was addressed by making spatial changes to combine the dark, poky bathroom with the adjoining separate toilet, linen closet and entry hallway to create a large and airy bathroom.

Finishes

The bathroom finishes included warm grey concrete look porcelain floor tiles, matt white wall tiles and a feature wall of vertically laid sage green subway tiles. Matt black tap-ware was used to add a striking contrast to the soft colour palette.

The Calm & Serene Batroom Reveal ...

I’m so excited to share the images of our latest bathroom project with you all!

It may come as a surprise to some, that not all homes in Queensland are Queenslanders. Situated in a 70’s three-level home in Stafford Heights, this bathroom was the first ever renovation undertaken by our clients.

Our Client's Feedback

I had the pleasure of working closely with Lisa on our bathroom renovation.

I loved that Lisa listened to what I wanted and then challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and try different tile colours and design ideas.

The end design captured the look and feel I wanted to achieve perfectly.

Lisa was involved in every step in the project from design to completion. When issues or questions arose during the build Lisa stepped in and dealt with them promptly and professionally. This made the whole process stress-free.

The end result is a beautiful, functional, bathroom that complements the architectural period of our home. I feel grateful to have had her help.
