Turkish Queenslander

Set within a century old Queenslander in Brisbane, the Turkish Queenslander is a deeply personal home that reimagines heritage architecture through the lens of cultural identity. The project honours Turkish ancestry while remaining firmly grounded in the character and climate of Queensland.

Rather than relying on overt references or thematic decoration, the design draws on the essence of Turkish architecture through form, materiality and craftsmanship. Arched openings, custom metalwork, hand selected stone, mosaic detailing and carefully curated colour palettes create a layered narrative that feels authentic, timeless and highly individual.

The transformation extends beyond aesthetics. Existing disconnected spaces were reconfigured to support the rhythms of family life, introducing greater functionality, flow and connection throughout the home.

Rich cultural references are expressed through architectural gestures and bespoke detailing rather than ornamentation. Warm timber tones, natural stone, soft plaster finishes and handcrafted elements work together to create an atmosphere that feels both grounded and sophisticated.

The result is a home unlike any other in Brisbane. A contemporary sanctuary that honours heritage, celebrates identity and demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform a house into a deeply personal expression of home.
